Lark in the Park Special event with the International Theatre group chose the Age Concern Espania as their Charity this year!
We were delighted that the International Theatre Group had chosen to support this year the new branch of Age Concern España for Marbella-San Pedro.
Age concern received the donation of €4,100 the biggest collection ever taken from one of the Lark in the Park events. Organised by the international Theatre group of Malaga these funds go to support Age Concerns charitable work in the local community.
“The Lark in the Park” took place as usual, by kind permission of the Ayuntamiento de Benahavis, in Parque Torre Leonera. This year the play chosen for the first half of the event was ‘Last Tango in Benahavis’ by David Tristram and directed by Martin Curd. It was hugely amusing and all the visitors seemed to enjoy the play. During the interval while we were picnicking various members of Age concern and the international theatre group went around giving any information that you may require. A few of the young volunteers also went around selling raffle tickets which seemed very popular as the prizes donated were mainly from locals in the area of Marbella. The Culture clique sponsored the programs and leaflets being handed out at the evenings events There were bottles of wine, meals at various restaurants and painting classes with the highly revered Debbie Lush the prizes, for the purchase of the raffle tickets!
The second half of the evening 3 singers performed were Karen Danzig, Sam Oliver and Stella who are all well-known artists on the Costa del Sol. Much fun and dancing took place in the warm balmy evening in the hills of Benahavis We are appreciative that these professional artists choose to give their time without charge for the benefit of our chosen charity. Our thanks also to the 3 singers, Karen Danzig, Sam Oliver and Stella for the wonderful music and giving up their time to raise money for the charity, the soon to be inaugurated new branch of Age Concern España Marbella-San Pedro.
Thanks go to Benahavis for the use of Parque Leonara, ITS obviously, for organising the event and all their hard working volunteers.
